Why Derby Quick Hit?

This retreat is designed for women with limited time who wish to experience the highlights of Blue Derby. Arrive at Launceston airport on Thursday evening and get ready for three exciting days of riding. This is a fully supported trip and is more suitable for strong beginner, intermediate, and advanced riders. The primary emphasis is on riding, with less focus on skill advancement.

You will visit Blue Derby, Blue Tier and the Bay of Fires top 13.

  • From there, proceed to our group lodging, which boasts a four-star equivalence.

  • When you’re ready, a bike mechanic will help unbox and build your bike (if you brought your own), or get you set up on a hire bike if you ordered one of these. Bikes will then be loaded onto the bike trailer ready for a efficient morning departure

Day 2 - Explore Derby and Sauna

  • Begin your day with a locally sourced breakfast at our lodging.

  • Hop on the bus for a 90-minute journey to the initial point of our first trail, Valley Ponds, a beautiful warm-up route from Branxholm to Derby.

  • Meet up at the trailhead in Derby for a morning tea break.

  • For those who are less confident, there's an option to explore the lower trails of Derby with a guide, while those with more confidence can take turns on shuttle rides up the hill to Black Stump to experience some of Derby's classic trails such as Flickety Sticks, Return to Sender and more. Confident riders are welcome to head off on their own to explore.

  • After an active day, you're free to ride directly to our nearby accommodation to settle in.

  • In the evening, we'll venture out to one of the local restaurants for dinner then finish up with a visit to the famous Derby Floating Sauna

  • In the evening, we'll savor dinner at another local restaurant.

  • Derby Quick Fix FAQs

Although this trip is different from our signature Women’s MTB Retreat in NE Tasmania, it is run with the same philosophy. Our aim by the end is to allow you to escape, connect and evolve.

  • Who is this trip suitable for?

The retreat can accommodate a maximum of 10 women and offers flexibility to cater to riders with strong beginner, intermediate, and advanced skills. Depending on the group size, there may be one or two guides available. At a minimum, the guide will either accompany less confident riders on easier trails or serve as a support at the end of the group on longer routes. The trip is designed to allow more confident riders to explore Derby independently with the assistance of our Black Stump uplifts.

  • Is this a Women's Only Trip?

Certainly is! The trip is specifically designed for women, creating a safe and inclusive environment that fosters female empowerment. It offers a unique opportunity for women to connect, support each other, and embark on a journey of self-discovery and personal growth. So, yes, it is a women's only trip.

  • What sort of a bike do I need?

For this trip, we will likely head onto the blue trails and think you need a full-suspension bike. While you can get away with a hardtail, it will be a much better experience on a dual-suspension bike.

You need to make sure your bike is recently serviced and bring some spare parts. We are heading to remote areas with limited support for bikes. We will have a bike mechanic along for the trip with some generic parts as we understand how important it is to keep you moving. As with all our trips, we are there to support you build and pack your bike out of the bag/box you transport it in.

  • What is the group size for this trip?

The group will be between 8 to 10 riders and 2 staff. We will have minimum 1 female bike guide, a bike mechanic / bus driver to keep everyone moving

  • How do I book?
